With evocative steel licks accenting Walker’s drawling vocal (listen to the way he draws out “can-eee-yun”, the song pushed the limits of personal reflection. “Are you proud of me? Are you proud of what I do? I’m trying to be a better man than the one that you knew,” Walker sang, exposing both past sins and present insecurity.
