“When I started this, I wanted it to be my 40 acres and a mule, my opportunity to experience the American dream,” said guitarist and vocalist Isaiah Evans. Toward the end of the Civil War, formerly enslaved people were promised 40 acres of land and a mule to help them gain economic stability.

“That reference always spoke to me. Being descended from enslaved people, it means a lot to me, and I wanted the name to carry that weight,” said Evans.
